Student Success Initiatives

Invest in Success is a simple premise with a big impact—to bring together the individuals and organizations with a shared interest in seeing students succeed. The program is designed to address one of the most persistent and challenging issues facing the Cougar community.

It's a fact that when our students don’t have the resources to cover the cost of attendance (even after financial aid), they work longer hours, are less engaged in transformational student experiences like undergraduate research, have lower grades regardless of their academic preparedness, and are more vulnerable to unexpected life events. In short, they are less likely to graduate.

Recognizing this, Washington State University launched Invest in Success, a first-of-its-kind initiative to change the way students cover unmet financial need, in 2016. By creating a shared investment between students, the university, federal granting agencies, and private philanthropy, we have dramatically decreased individual student need while dramatically increasing their likelihood of success at WSU.

Watch the video to hear from students, see out how it works, and find out how you can #InvestinCougs.

Did You Know: Every dollar donated to the program generates $2.50 in direct student support. Donations are matched dollar-for-dollar by federal funding and the students themselves contribute 50 cents for every dollar raised through private support.
