Anthropology is everywhere—from understanding the origins of humans, to how human lives and cultures vary in the past and present, to how we can address pressing issues of the 21st century. The Anthropology Department at Washington State University is known for its work on the archaeology of the Americas; the relationship between biology, the mind, and culture, as showcased by our Human Biology major; and the human family. Our alumni work in a variety of fields, including at universities, Amazon, and the United Nations; in professional archaeology; and as consultants. In the next five years, we will further build our interdisciplinarity and cross-sector reach and strengthen our relationships with communities in the Northwest and beyond—all while continuing to train students who lead the field and sharing with the world what it means to be human.
