The Department of History provides students with exciting opportunities to critically explore the roots of contemporary societies throughout the world. Students can explore such diverse areas as war and society, race relations and liberation movements, Indigenous history in the Americas, Latinx histories, women and gender, refugees and religion, public history, and modern Asia.
We offer classes where students and instructors discuss a variety of texts, historical context, and lessons from the past that can be applied to today’s challenges in an inclusive environment. With an emphasis on developing speaking, research, analytical, and writing skills, a history degree provides a sound foundation for careers in business, law, public service, journalism, and education.
