As methods of communication continue to transform our industries, Edward Murrow’s approach, perspectives and standards are as relevant today as the day he first spoke them. The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication has a tradition of professional excellence, ethics, and innovation that shape the direction of the industry. Murrow’s dedication to truthful, accurate storytelling, and his desire to educate the world about the events of his time, continue to live on in the spirit of the College. This is “The Murrow Way.”

Every gift from alumni, friends, faculty, and staff to The Murrow College of Communication has a profound impact. Dean’s Excellence Fund

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact Murrow College students, faculty and staff in different ways. Contributions to the Dean’s Excellence Fund provides the dean with the flexibility to respond to emerging needs and trends while fulfilling the college’s highest priorities. This fund supports our student services, emergency and start-up research funding, professional development, guest speakers and travel.

Your gift today to the Murrow College Dean’s Excellence Fund helps maintain the professional excellence we are known for and ensures the College able can respond to current challenges and take advantage of new opportunities.

Scholarship Excellence Fund

Scholarships are more vital now than ever as students face increased economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Financial barriers should never be the reason a student doesn’t complete their degree plan.

Your contribution to the Scholarship Excellence Fund demonstrates how much you believe in Murrow students and their dreams. Scholarships support students studying journalism, media production, science and technology communication, advertising, and public relations. Your gift ensures students have the financial support they need to focus on their studies and graduate.

Digital Excellence Fund

Your gift to the Digital Excellence Fund ensures Murrow students have access to leading-edge technology. This endowed fund supports media lab upgrades, equipment software for student rental, and our new loan program and software awards.

The move to remote learning highlighted the fact that not all students have access to a computer powerful enough to run necessary programs to complete their coursework. In response, Murrow College established a laptop loaner program which provides students in need with a laptop from the College for the semester. We also recognized the cost of software can be a barrier for some students and, in response, established technology awards for students in need to pay for programs such as the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Your gift to the Digital Excellence Fund ensures Murrow College students have the technology they need to be successful.

Northwest Public Broadcasting TV Fund

Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB) is a community service of the Murrow College and one way the college supports WSU’s land grant mission. Your gift to support NWPB’s television programming ensures the communities of eastern Washington continue to have access to free, local, regional and national television programs that engage, enlighten and entertain.

Northwest Public Broadcasting Radio Fund

Northwest Public Broadcasting (NWPB) is a community service of the Murrow College and one way the college supports WSU’s land grant mission. Your gift NWPB’s public radio programming ensures communities throughout Washington state and parts of Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia continue to have access to free local, regional and national programs that engage, enlighten and entertain.
