Today’s veterinary students carry significantly more debt when they graduate than they did 25 years ago. For the WSU 2020 veterinary class, the median debt was $118,000 dollars.
Scholarships help students worry less about money, so they can spend more time thinking about their studies. Scholarships also give our students a tremendous financial advantage when they graduate by relieving them of some of their academic debt.
The COVID Sucks Scholarship (Friends of VetMed Endowed Scholarship)
Created in 2021 by Dr. Shaun Vaniman, this scholarship assists first, second, or third year DVM students with high financial need during this extremely COVID-ridden time.
The Heritage Scholarship Fund
Alumni and friends of the college can support tomorrow’s veterinarians by helping put them on more stable financial footing when they graduate. This scholarship is specifically awarded to incoming students.
The Robert (’67) and Janice Olds Scholarship
This award is given to a student in their first year of the DVM curriculum who is Hispanic, Latino or Native American, to persevere in their studies and complete their education.
