Student Wellness on the Pullman Campus - For all students, every day

In Student Affairs, we aspire to make WSU Pullman an environment that ignites critical thinking and a sense of belonging; where students have life-changing experiences that enable them to persist, graduate, and make meaningful contributions to their communities and society.

This CougsGive, we’re asking for the Coug community to rally around two areas of wellness for Pullman students:

  1. Access to healthy, nutritious food and basic hygiene products;
  2. Access to opportunities for recreation – from safe exercise equipment to club and intramural sports teams to outdoor excursions.

WSU Pullman Food Pantries for Students

Your donations provide food such as grains, proteins, soups, canned vegetables and fruits, and other non-perishable items that fill the Pullman campus food pantry. Food pantry provides students experiencing food insecurity with healthy food and hygiene options, allowing them to better focus on their studies and families. According to a Washington Student Achievement Council survey in fall 2022, “Nearly 4 in 10 students surveyed (38.3%) reported experiencing food insecurity in the last 30 days”.

Your gift helps ensure that no WSU Pullman student has to worry about where their next meal will come from or if they can buy hygiene products.

Emergency Dining Dollars

Formerly Cougs Feeding Cougs and the Cougar Meal Swipe program, Emergency Dining Dollars is a program where eligible students can privately request funds to be used at campus dining locations. Food is a vital part of building community, and our dining halls serve as a space for students to bond and create relationships with their fellow residents over a hot meal. The Emergency Dining Dollars program helps students facing food insecurity join their peers in a dining hall. Your gift ensures students have access to a balanced meal on campus and the opportunity to build and strengthen their community on campus.

University Recreation For All

University recreation is so much more than the buildings and equipment. While facilities are vital to providing an outlet for physical and mental health, they are just a small part of what University Recreation is and does. URec facilitates community building through group fitness classes, friendly competition in intramural and club sports, as well as group outdoor excursions.

When students face a financial barrier to participating in University Recreation programs, they can apply for support from URec for All. Your gift provides stipends to cover program fees such as a $35 fee for a group fitness class, a $31 for an Intramural Sports pass, a $40 personal training session to create an accessible workout routine, and partial support towards a $465 spring break excursion to a national park.

Your gift today will help ensure that the URec can continue to serve all WSU students in their wellness journey and eliminate financial and location barriers to participation.
