Murrow College of Communication
Where will you make a difference at Murrow College?

As methods of communication continue to transform our industries, Edward R. Murrow’s approach, perspectives and standards are as relevant today as the day he first spoke them. The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication has a tradition of professional excellence, ethics, and innovation that shape the education of the next generation of professional communicators.

During his time, Edward R. Murrow made a difference through his dedication to truthful, accurate storytelling. Murrow students and alumni continue his legacy and strive to make a difference on WSU campuses, in their communities, across Washington state, the Pacific Northwest, the country and the world.

Every gift from alumni, friends, faculty, and staff to Murrow College of Communication has a profound impact. Your support makes a difference and helps the college:

  • prepare students for the evolving media landscape through scholarships, practical learning opportunities, professional development, and access to cutting-edge technology;

Financial barriers should never be the reason a student doesn’t complete their degree plan.

Your contribution to the Scholarship Excellence Fund demonstrates how much you believe in Murrow students and their dreams. Gifts of all size to this fund are combined into impactful awards to benefit high-performing students with significant financial need. The Scholarship Excellence Fund supports students studying journalism, media production, science and technology communication, advertising, public relations, as well as risk and crisis communication.

Your gift makes a difference and ensures students have the financial support they need to focus on their studies and graduate.

Digital Excellence Fund

Your gift to the Digital Excellence Fund ensures Murrow students have access to leading-edge technology. This endowed fund supports media lab upgrades, equipment for student rental, and our new laptop loan program and technology awards.

The move to remote learning during the height of the pandemic, and more recently, the newly established requirement for all Murrow students to have a laptop, highlighted the fact that not all students have access to a computer powerful enough to run necessary programs to complete their coursework. In response, Murrow College established a laptop loaner program which provides students in need with a laptop from the College for the semester. We also recognize the cost of software can be a barrier for some students and, in response, established technology awards for students in need to pay for programs such as the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Your gift to the Digital Excellence Fund ensures Murrow College students have the technology they need to be successful.
