Gifts to the Former Foster and Homeless Youth Fund provides Cougs with basic needs assistance, such as food, rent, medical bills, childcare, or tuition assistance. The fund also supports programming to assist students from foster care and who’ve experienced homelessness in establishing financial wellness and strong community ties to ensure balance and success.
Foster youth alumni experience significant barriers to access and achievement in college. As a result only 11% of foster youth nationwide who apply to college go on to complete a college degree. WSU’s Passport Program supports eligible former foster youth in overcoming barriers through peer mentoring, professional coaching, and a network of support throughout their college-going experience.
Your donation will also support students who have experienced homelessness. As students experience homelessness, it disrupts their academic studies and causes stress. Balancing access to food and shelter while regularly attending classes can be especially challenging. WSU’s Passport Program supports students experiencing homelessness in overcoming barriers to success through peer mentoring, professional coaching, and a network of support during and outside of the academic year.
